Social media changes come often and quickly – sometimes it’s hard to keep up with all the changes. Technologies change, interests change, and in order to remain competitive, brands need to keep up with the latest and greatest.
Three key opportunities coming in 2020 that brands should be watching for are:
- Storytelling will take the lead. Instagram Stories continues to be a growing platform with over 500 million users every day. Brands will need to focus on story creation that is creative, engaging and interesting.
- Personalization is key. In previous years, interruption was key – in their feeds, watching videos etc. But those tactics are losing steam – consumers want personalization. They want to feel they’re in control over the content they are engaging with.
- Augmented Reality (AR) is not going away; its growing. AR allows for immersive and engaging experiences that are one-of-a-kind. While the total future is still hazy, AR can allow for virtual tours, virtual events and virtual product tests.
While this list might seem daunting to smaller brands (or maybe even larger ones) there are plenty of social media marketing tools from cross platform to machine learning enhanced software that can help.
