YouTube TV has been quick about adding markets. Launching last April with only five markets, YouTube TV is now available in the top 100 markets, extending its reach to over 85% of U.S. households. Their increased market list, along with their base package of 50+ channels, have helped propel YouTube TV to one of the top contenders for cord-cutters.
YouTube TV is currently $35 a month, but the cost is increasing to $40 a month for subscriptions starting after March 13. This price increase comes with the recent addition of Turner Networks: Adult Swim, Cartoon Network, CNN, TBS, TNT, truTV and Turner Classic Movies. Even at a $40 cost, YouTube TV still aligns with the top competitions’ monthly costs of $20 (Sling TV), $35 (DIRECTV NOW) and $40 (PlayStation Vue or Hulu with Live TV). Tipping the scale even further, YouTube TV offers unlimited cloud DVR storage and three concurrent streams. If YouTube TV can accomplish all of this in 10 months, then I can’t wait to see how their services evolve in a few years. It might be worth jumping on board before March 13 and getting the $35 rate.
