Facebook’s Ads Manager and Power Editor Merge

By: Magnolia Deuell    September 26, 2017

Facebook recently announced the merger of two self-service ad-buying tools, Power Editor and Ads Manager. The new platform, which will keep the name Ads Manager, will have the efficiencies of each separate tool, but in one single place. For those self-service ad buyers, this is good news.

One key difference is in campaign creation, which now directs you to “quick creation.” This work flow allows an advertiser to create a campaign in any order they choose (much like the Power Editor interface). There is also a “guided creation” option, which walks you through campaign creation from campaign objective, to ad placement, targeting and schedule, and finally ad creative format (much like the Ads Manager interface). Advertisers will be opted into the creation they use most often, but can switch between creation flows at any time.

Another update is the “draft” option. Using the old interface, unless you placed an order, you only had the option to “close” a campaign, with no work saved. The merged platform will now give you an option to save unfinished campaigns as a draft.

Whether you are used to Ads Manager or Power Editor, Facebook states no functionality will be lost in the merger of these tools. Having the capabilities of two separate self-service tools in once platform will give all advertisers personalized work flow options.
